Harry Rowe, popularly known as Macer Gifford, is a media personality, author, British former currency trader, volunteer fighter, and combat medic who, between mid-2015 and 2017, fought alongside the Kurdish YPG militia against the Islamic State terror group and, as of 2022, is a reconnaissance infantryman, and medic for the Ukrainian Foreign Legion in Ukraine.

A long-time human rights activist, Gifford has previously conducted expeditions into the Congolese rainforest, campaigned against Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe and worked with the British Council on the Horn of Africa.

Seeking to get involved in more direct action, Gifford officially joined the Ukrainian Army and was assigned to the 131st Battalion and the International Cossacks Expeditionary force, a forward operating reconnaissance unit tasked with discovering and engaging Russian forces and the capture of intelligence material.

Taking the opportunity to film and photograph Macer on his visits back to the UK, this is an on going series that we aim to form into a long format film.
